jivamukti yoga school

Jivamukti Yoga, New York

This school came highly recommended to me by the lovely Lee, so I braved the snow and headed down to Union Square! There are tons of options for classes in Jivamukti, and I was glad that Lee had told me to look out for Rima. The room had a huge amount of energy, and was packed to capacity which added to its intensity. Rima opened the evening with beautiful music; she has an incredible presence and radiates warmth and positivity. She made a very special effort to call out to "her special visitor from Dublin" which made me wish I visited New York more often! I had a very nice dinner afterwards at the cafe, and there is also a lovely shop which you can peruse whilst waiting for your food! There are lots of mats and props available so no need to worry about bringing anything with you.

Life Source Retreats @ alayatulum Mexico

Tulum in itself is pure magic and the energy level is surreal. Alaya Tulum and Life Source Retreats was a spectacular experience.
If you’re looking for yoga all day than you need to choose the right program as they run a variety of different experiences – some which are more intensive in focusing only on yoga and others with more spiritual or inspirational workshops around topics such as mindfulness.
I chose the Live Life on Purpose retreat and I would repeat it in a heartbeat. It completely rejuvenated me & brought me back to who I really am. The program has your day fully booked from morning through to dinner time with yoga, activities, workshop and just the right amount of time to get the sunshine. The food is outstanding and healthy (especially those morning bowls), workshops are practical and can easily be applied to your daily life and the yoga classes in my program were Ashtanga – it was great. Most importantly, the people become like family. Everyone is so welcoming, loving and genuinely interested in accommodating you to make the most out or your experience. If you want to have more of any particular activity, feel free to ask for it and they’ll make sure it happens. If you’re looking for a wholesome experience both physically and mentally, definitely choose Tulum and Life Source Retreats. You won’t regret it when you’re back.

Labyrinth yoga

Labyrinth Yoga, San Francisco

Darren Main has created something wonderful at Grace Cathedral, San Francisco. This class was one of the most unique yoga experiences I have ever had! In fact, my friend who I brought along turned around to me afterwards and proclaimed "That was easily in my Top 5 favourite things I have ever done". Imagine hundreds of San Franciscans practising together in a beautiful old cathedral and you get the picture. The music that accompanies the practise whisks you away, and the surroundings are majestical. Arrive 20 minutes early to get a prime position and to avail of one of the free mats if you are only in town for a couple of days.

The steep climb up to Nob Hill is well worth it!

Donation based yoga @ $10, Monday evenings @ 6.15pm. See www.labyrinthyoga.com for more details.
