Happiness – what does it actually mean to you?

 LOKAH SAMASTAH SUKHINO BHAVANTU

MAY ALL BEINGS EVERYWHERE, BE HAPPY AND FREE & MAY THE THOUGHTS WORDS & ACTIONS OF MY OWN LIFE, CONTRIBUTE IN SOME WAY, TO THAT HAPPINESS AND TO THAT FREEDOM FOR ALL.

It is the one thing that we strive for continuously in life but curiously most of the time we are pretty unsure as to what it actually means to us….and if we don’t know what it is, how are we going to get it?

Seems pretty obvious but I have often found myself going in the wrong direction, sometimes based on other peoples expectations. Society expects us to behave a certain way and we begin to accumulate a list of ‘should do’s’ based on social norms rather then what we actually want.

Our society today places a huge emphasis on materialistic ideals, telling us how we should look, what we should buy and how big our bank balance should be. We tend to place our worth on where we live and what we can afford. But as we know this does not make us happy!

So whats the secret formula?

There is none! Being happy takes work, effort and it is a conscious decision that we are all capable of making. Being unselfish, kind and caring towards others can paradoxically be a step towards our own happiness.Take a step back, notice the things that are important to you and take responsibility for your own happiness – you do actually deserve it!

Be Someone who makes you happy
